Get Out the Vote Mini-grants Now Available
August 2008
We believe it is critical to increase the vote and voice of communities traditionally underrepresented in elections: communities of color, youth, new citizens, and low-income residents. We invite organizations to participate in our Get Out The Vote (GOTV) mini-grants program. We support work that combines voter education, registration, and mobilization efforts.
Priority will be given to projects that utilize proven practices that result in successful outcomes and are most cost effective (i.e. door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, or other person-to-person contacts). Applicants who are proposing to focus on youth voter mobilization are particularly encouraged to apply. All successful applicants must be able to report specific and measurable outcomes. Grassroots organizations working in the counties of San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Contra Costa, and Marin may apply for mini-grants between $500 and $7,500 to support non-partisan voter registration, voter education, and voter mobilization efforts.
How to Apply: Please complete the online application in Grantee Center. Applications must be submitted by August 29, 2008.
The grant period will be from August 1, 2008, to November 30, 2008. Funding cannot be provided retroactively or for project work that occurs outside the grant period. Notification of awards will be by September 5, 2008. Final reports will be due by December 31, 2008.
