Arts and Culture

The San Francisco Foundation believes that artistic and cultural activities are an essential part of any healthy community. We are committed to ensuring that our Arts and Culture Program has a deep and thoughtful impact within the five Bay Area counties. In our 2011-12 funding cycle, we will continue our support in making the arts more accessible to everyone in our communities, strengthening arts organizations that exemplify excellence in their artistic quality and diverse audience engagement, and embedding the arts within our education system.

Goal and Objectives

Goal: Support projects and organizations that nurture artistic creativity, strengthen arts education, and deepen diverse cultural participation in order to enrich, develop, and celebrate communities in the five counties we serve.

Objective One:

Invest in the development and the presentation of high quality and diverse artistic practices reflective of the myriad communities in the region.

Objective Two:

Support arts education programs that foster creativity, self-expression, cross-cultural exchange, and civic participation for children and young adults.

Objective Three:

Increase opportunities for all to participate in diverse cultural and artistic experiences.

Objective Four:

Support art making and cultural participation in building communities.

Objective Five:

Contribute to efforts to engage, expand, and diversify audiences for artistic and cultural presentations.
