Program Officer for Community Health joins The San Francisco Foundation

- Tuesday, May 8, 2007 - Sandra R. Hernández, M.D., CEO, and Tatwina Lee, Chair
of the Board of Trustees of The San Francisco Foundation (TSFF), announced the
appointment of Denise Martin as
Program Officer for Community Health.
As Program Officer for Community Health, Denise
Martin will oversee the Foundation’s dedication to improving
the health of communities – particularly underserved populations – by expanding
residents’ access to local services, promoting prevention to reduce illness,
and advancing health policy reform. Ms. Martin’s extensive experience has primarily
focused on diversifying healthcare options for low-income and uninsured
individuals. She has built a statewide reputation for more than twenty years as
a tireless advocate for public hospitals. She has actively contributed on
several committees, including the Attorney General’s Committee on Charity Care,
the Frequent User Campaign, the Insure the Uninsured Project, and the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF)
Health Care Improvement for Diverse Populations project. Additionally, she has
also served as a guest lecturer at the School
of Public Health at the University of California
at Berkeley.
Denise received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern
University, and her Master of Public
Health Policy and Administration from University
of California at Berkeley.
