$300,000 Grant to West Berkeley Neighborhood
Congresswoman Barbara Lee Joins with The San Francisco Foundation to Announce Winners
(BERKELEY) – Wednesday, July 18, 2007 – Sandra Hernández, M.D., CEO of The San Francisco Foundation, today announced the launch of a $300,000, five-year partnership to West Berkeley leaders to promote civic unity and engagement.
The appointed eight Koshland Community Fellows, along with their neighborhood colleagues, will distribute an average of $60,000 per year through 2012. The initiative will focus on leadership development, promoting civic unity, and celebrating unsung heroes. The San Francisco Foundation Koshland Program centers its work on promoting mutual respect and collaboration among diverse communities to resolve neighborhood problems.
Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-12), Assemblywoman Loni Hancock (AD-14), Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson (5th District), Berkeley City Council Member Darryl Moore and Berkeley City Council Member Linda Maio will join with The San Francisco Foundation in announcing the grant.
