RAQUEL F. DONOSO NAMED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE LATINO COMMUNITY FOUNDATION


(SAN FRANCISCO) – Tuesday, August 21, 2007 – The Board of Trustees today announced the appointment of Raquel F. Donoso as Executive Director of the Latino Community Foundation. The Latino Community Foundation is a supporting organization of The San Francisco Foundation.

As Executive Director of the Latino Community Foundation (LCF), Ms. Donoso will implement the recently launched LCF Latino Children and Youth Initiative that will strengthen organizations serving this important and fast-growing population in the Bay Area. She will also lead LCF’s annual individual donor campaign, with an exciting focus on young Latino professionals.

“Raquel Donoso brings creativity and enthusiasm to her new position. We are confident that under her leadership The Latino Community Foundation will thrive. Our community, especially young Latinos, will be the big winners,” said Board Chair Aida Alvarez.

Ms. Donoso is an accomplished public policy and community leader with more than ten years working with the nonprofit, corporate, philanthropic, and government sectors. Most recently she served as the Associate Director of the Latino Issues Forum where she initiated new corporate and donor development and expanded the funding portfolio of the organization. Ms. Donoso earned her Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she specialized in community health services and health policy. 

Ms. Donoso has a wide range of experience at the local level advocating for youth and economic development that provides opportunities for families in the community. She currently serves on the board of the East Bay Regional Park Foundation and is co-founder and board chair of California Latinas for Reproductive Justice, a statewide advocacy organization.
