January 2012
The San Francisco Foundation is recruiting candidates for the 2012-2014 Multicultural Fellowship Program. We are looking for applicants with expertise in three program areas: Community Development, Education, and the Environment.
For three decades, the Multicultural Fellowship Program has cultivated diverse leadership in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors. The Fellowship is a two-year, full-time program for young professionals of color with the talent and drive to create positive social change in Bay Area communities.
The Fellowship provides hands-on work experience with our Program staff. Fellows receive professional development, training, and opportunities to build skills in grantmaking, convening, and project management. Fellows also benefit from networking, mentoring, seminars, professional conferences, and interactions with a range of nonprofit and philanthropic leaders.
More than 60 leaders of color have participated in the Fellowship, and several have gone on to hold positions of distinction in government, nonprofit organizations, and foundations.
What previous Fellows have said about the program:
"The Fellowship empowered me to initiate change for my community instead of waiting for someone else to do it."
"I have grown more confident at The San Francisco Foundation. I have also come to appreciate the importance of relationship-building, and to be very aware of what it means to be a person of color in a diverse organization, but in a less-than-diverse field."
"The Fellowship teaches the value of professionalism—it also teaches the value of community."
The deadline to apply is Friday, March 9, 2012. Click here to read more detailed information about the Fellowship application process, information sessions, and to download an application form.
