Shaping Philanthropy's Role in the Management of Financial Donations in Disaster

Philanthropic organizations play an important role in supporting communities in the aftermath of a catastrophic disaster, drawing on our grantmaking expertise, community connections, and strong relationships with donors. Local government planners are exploring partnerships with the philanthropic sector to manage financial donations for large-scale disaster response and recovery, and planning efforts are currently underway at regional, county, and city levels.

Please join us on Friday, May 6th for Shaping Philanthropy’s Role in the Management of Financial Donations in Disaster, and help shape the way funds will be managed to benefit our communities.

At this convening of philanthropic partners from around the 12-county Bay Area, we will:

• Discuss how philanthropy can most effectively be involved in financial donations management
• Explore our capacities and areas where additional inputs will be needed
• Identify next steps

Participants will include philanthropic partners and government planners who can provide details of existing plans, particularly the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of government in this arena.
