Professional Advisor Seminar: Profound Risks to a Family of Means
Managing Risk from a Legal, Insurance, and Tax Planning Perspective
As a result of financial scandals, changes in the tax laws, and world events, affluent clients are more aware of and concerned with risk management than ever before. Join The San Francisco Foundation and the Institute for Private Investors for a panel discussion as we explore the primary financial and non-financial risks faced by affluent clients, and provide suggestions and strategies on how to manage these risks.
Discussion questions will include:
Investment RisksAs investors face the “certain uncertainty” of global markets, how should investors incorporate new thinking about risk into their asset allocations?
Legal RisksHow can family assets be best protected from unsuccessful marriages, creditors, and other unexpected events? What should investors do with respect to their estate plans during this “limbo” year?
Insurance RisksWhen is it practical to self-insure, and when is it practical to purchase catastrophe insurance? How much liability insurance is needed for a high net worth family?
Tax RisksHow can families minimize the risk of tax audits and penalties?
