NCG Funders Briefing – State Budget Narrative: Building the Future of California

Leaders of The San Francisco Foundation, The California Endowment, Columbia Foundation, Ford Foundation, the Walter & Elise Haas Fund and Northern California Grantmakers invite funders to join us for a very timely strategy and communications workshop, State Budget Narrative: Building the Future of California, on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at The San Francisco Foundation from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, followed by lunch.

This special session will feature Demos, a non-partisan public policy research and advocacy organization, which will present its research findings and valuable new insights about the obstacles inherent in how the public thinks about government, budgets, and taxes.

We will also learn about strategies, approaches, and language that are being employed effectively in other geographic areas on these topics.

The goal of this session is to provide funders with strategies to positively impact the public discourse on the role of the state government and the importance of revenues and reductions in creating a secure budget for the collective good.

This convening is one of a series of conversations that are being hosted in the Bay Area and Sacramento, and the only one focused on an audience of the philanthropic sector to work towards the goal of a more informed and reasoned discourse on the role of state government and a secure budget.
