Register for Making Room in the Circle

Parent Services Project (PSP), in partnership with Chabot Community College, is offering a groundbreaking new course: Making Room in the Circle - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Families in Early Childhood Settings. The course is designed for early childhood educators to ensure that all children and families feel welcome and engaged in the programs that serve them.

The goal is to support early childhood educators in:

• Understanding issues and challenges faced by LGBT parents and their children in ECE settings
• Exploring the role of early childhood educators, and programs, in creating inclusive environments
• Strengthening skills in building relationships and partnerships with all families
• Learning about resources that will help support the inclusion of children from LGBT families in ECE settings
  

Participants will receive:

• 2 semester units from Chabot College (Fee is $56)
• All course materials plus a children’s book that is inclusive of LGBT families
• Lunch or dinner and snacks

The course takes place over three weekends, and participants are expected to attend all six sessions.

Space is limited to 25 participants. Registration ends January 15, 2009.
