Community Resilience Training - in Bayview

The Dynamics of Disaster Response: Increase your Personal Preparedness

The San Francisco Foundation’s Disaster Preparedness Project is offering Community Resilience Training to help communities develop the ability to recover from any disastrous event through preparation and self-reliance. The October 25th training is for residents of the Bayview neighborhood.

The goals of this training are to help community members:

  • Understand the dynamics of disaster response
  • Increase personal preparedness
  • Connect to neighborhood assets
  • Focus on specific neighborhood concerns
  • Access other disaster preparedness training and information sources

The October 25th training for the Bayview community will have a special focus on personal safety when:

  • violence, civil unrest, and disturbances are present
  • maintaining a sense a calm in the community
  • security, crisis, and crowd management is needed
  • identifying neighborhood resources

Lunch and child care will be provided for event participants. There will also be a youth class.

This training is free, however pre-registration is required by October 20, 2008.  Please contact Juanita Hodge at jah@sff.org or 415.733.8506 to RSVP or for more information.
