10 Years After 9/11: Dialogue on New Opportunities and Continuing Challenges in AMEMSA Communities
Ten years after 9/11, a period of evolving challenges and new opportunities is emerging for Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian (AMEMSA) communities and organizations. Islamophobia and anti-immigrant rhetoric have become normalized in the public discourse. Despite continuing discriminatory media messages, laws, and policies impacting AMEMSA communities and organizations, there are signs of hope and progress at both the local and national levels.
Recent developments are underway to strengthen relationships between immigrant rights, racial justice, and AMEMSA communities. You will hear from organizations and funding partners involved in the Civic Engagement Fund for AMEMSA communities, about their priorities and concerns, how AMEMSA organizations are meeting their needs and advancing their goals, and how AMEMSA organizations are engaged in areas that you support and fund.
Please join us at this funder dialogue, where we hope to hear your best ideas and strategic thinking about ways to strengthen AMEMSA communities. This briefing is co-presented by Northern California Grantmakers and AAPIP.
